Massachusetts
National Guard Troops in Afghanistan to Connect by Videoconference with
Stateside Families During Boston Bruins’ Military Appreciation Night
USO,
Boston Bruins, TD Garden and BurstPoint Networks
Give Military Families Face-To-Face Communication
Westborough,
Mass, November 15, 2011 – The USO, Boston Bruins, TD Garden and BurstPoint
Networks will connect local members of the National Guard stationed
in Afghanistan with their families at today’s "Military Appreciation Night"
when the Bruins face off against the New Jersey Devils.
Working
with the USO and the Seats for Soldiers program, the Boston Bruins Foundation will
bring families of the Massachusetts National Guard stationed at Camp Phoenix to
the TD Garden to watch the game and be connected by special videoconference,
powered by BurstPoint Networks’ video content management system.
Prior
to the game, Bruins President and Hall of Famer Cam Neely will meet with
families of the
26th Yankee
Brigade, the 1-182 Infantry and the 26th Signal Company in a videoconference
connecting the Guards to the event. After the game, the videoconferencing system
will give families time to see and talk with their soldiers. In addition,
through BurstPoint Networks’ video-on-demand capabilities, family who cannot
attend the event in person will be able to see their loved ones via a private
web portal.
The
videoconference will send live, high-definition footage of the Bruins-Devils
game to Afghanistan and broadcast video of the National Guards members back to
the TD Garden’s giant screen during the game.
For
BurstPoint President and CEO Patrick Clark, Military Appreciation Night is a
cause close to his heart. “As a veteran, I understand the sacrifices our
service men and women endure. Providing our streaming technology for them to
see the faces of their loved ones and connect with home is tremendously
rewarding.”
With
the ability to scale from 10 people to millions, the BurstPoint video
technology gives companies and organizations the ability to capture and create, edit and publish,
distribute and deliver, and consume high-definition live and stored video.
